Giving orphans a head startAs in many African nations, the HIV/AIDS crisis in Malawi has left a multitude of orphans in its wake. But most of these children are neither on the street nor in orphanages—they are lovingly cared for by members of their extended family, often by grandparents. So how do you help an orphan who doesn’t seem to be entirely “orphaned?” One way is to offer child care and preschool education. That is what HOPE for AIDS Malawi is doing in its orphan daycare program.
